Hellebore emerges and opens her petals in the gloomiest phase of winter. Her roots are deep-rooted and strongly linked to the Earth. Hellebore has also been referred to as the High Priestess.
This essence contains deep intuition, as does Hellebore’s robust root system. Hellebore helps to ground us, while also aiding us to find our inner strength. Her formidable connection to Mars and Saturn provides us with the courage to weave our way through life’s challenges. Hellebore can provide us with the guidance needed to purge that which no longer serves us. Through Hellebore’s loving spirit, we are reminded that beauty can be found in the darkest of dark times.
Black Hellebore was historically used for treating mental problems, dating clear back to 1400 BCE. Greek philosophers prepared and consumed an infusion from the Black Hellebore to help augment their concentration before debates.
Today, Hellebore is used homeopathically to treat mental complaints marked by confusion and lethargy. When used homeopathically, Hellebore can be beneficial when used for severe inflammatory conditions of the nerves. Other uses are treating headaches, digestive disorders, and depression. These symptoms are sometimes experienced after a brain or spinal cord injury, surgery on the brain, or after a case of meningitis or encephalitis.
Hellebore flower essence is especially helpful for young girls experiencing difficulties of puberty. It has also been reported to help regulate menstrual periods.
There are also reports that Hellebore helps to treat nausea, kidney infections, and constipation.
