Red poppies, infused for 2 full lunar cycles.

Poppy is considered feminine in action and resonates to the energy of the moon and the element of water. It makes an appropriate offering to Somnus, Hypnos, Nyx, Thanatos, Persephone, and Demeter. It is also an ideal offering to those who have passed away, especially those who died in battle.

Use poppy oil to anoint items on your ancestral altar as an offering to those that have passed and to let them know they are remembered or use in spells to summon your ancestors to you.

Poppies are associated with Hekate, and any magical working involving Poppy while evoking Her name, should go positively for you.

Add this poppy oil to workings, to create confusion on the part of your target and to disrupt the activities of disruptive people.. This works especially well when combined with black mustard seed and used to stuff a poppet. Poppy oil can also be used to dress a candle or used in sympathetic magic.

This oil is ideal for magical purposes surrounding love spells, ancestral offerings, fertility rites, death magic, remembrance rituals, and dream magic. It also makes a wonderful addition to any skin care routine.

Even though red poppies were believed to sprout on the grounds of fallen soldiers for centuries prior, red poppies became a symbol of remembrance of those who died in wartime after a famous poem described the brutal trench warfare that took place in the poppy fields of Flanders during World War I. White poppies are said to have sprung up in the battlefields of Genghis Khan.

In the Victorian Language of Flowers, poppy symbolized eternal sleep, oblivion, imagination. Red poppies also mean pleasure, white poppies symbolize consolation, and the yellow poppy means success. Persian literature recognizes the poppy as a symbol of love and those who have died for it.

Other beliefs say that Demeter turned her fallen, young lover, Mekon, a poppy, symbolizing their love and the remembrance of said love. The Greek God of sleep, Hypnos, is said to have carried a horn full of poppy juice or a poppy stalk. Morpheus, the Greek God of dreams, is said to use poppies to help shape the dreams of mortals. The Minoan culture featured a Goddess wearing a garland of Poppies in her hair, and Poppies in Christian art can represent both the blood of Christ on the cross and Christ’s death prior to his resurrection.

In 2019, a pigeon in Canberra, Australia made her nest out of poppies taken from a local war memorial, strengthening the belief that those we have lost are resting peacefully in love.

This product is vegan and gluten-free. It has no added dyes or fragrances. The plant material was organically grown, harvested, and prepared by The Jagged Path, under the most beneficial moon phase.
